Mindful Coworking in Phnom Penh
About us
We are a group of friends and colleagues, knowing each other from work or our common meditation practice in the No-Mud-No-Lotus Sangha in Phnom Penh.
We are also a colourful and joyful mix of Cambodian nationals and international expats, who love to work together and share our passion for the sustainable development of Cambodia.
We are committed to supporting each other in our work in a kind and loving way.
We are also on a spiritual journey together and we enjoy integrating the mindfulness practices into our daily work.
Here is a report about our first Mindful Co-Working Day: Working Together in Mindfulness:
On 30 April 2026, GIZ Cambodia hosted its very first Mindful Co-Working Day at the Sayon Building. The goal was to work together in a focused, low-distraction environment with clear routines for being present and recovering. After a brief introduction and sharing individual goals, the group practised a silent sitting meditation, followed by concentrated work phases in silence and a reflection round. We wrapped up with a shared lunch, starting with some minutes of mindful eating. Simple cues like the B‑S‑S pause (Breathing - Smiling - Stopping) and a mindfulness bell helped keep everyone’s attention on the task. Feedback was positive and happy, with comments like ‚I found the working together session useful‘ and ‚I am curious to know more about other mindfulness methods‘.
Building on this success, the session showed how structured pauses and collective presence can help reduce reactivity, support deep focus and create a calmer team dynamic - especially in environments where screens are constantly on and we are multitasking. Participants reported clearer prioritisation, fewer context switches and renewed energy for complex tasks. The shared rituals - brief check-ins, mindful breaks and silent work blocks - created a predictable rhythm that we found both motivating and soothing. We are hoping that mindfulness practices may become a practical toolkit for our everyday work, applicable at desks, in meetings and between tasks. With positive feedback, we are planning more mindfulness sessions - dates will be announced soon! Stay tuned!
