Overview

International Business Retreat

October 14 to October 18, 2026

Business the Buddhist Way: Experiences, challenges and inspirations from the Network for Mindful Business

with Dr. Kai Romhardt and Jay Kaufmann

Come to Berlin and practice within the Community of the Network for Mindful Business

Are you connected to the Buddha’s teachings of wisdom, meditation practices, and the way of mindful living? Would you like to integrate these insights and practices more deeply into your work, your livelihood, and your economic and organizational decisions? Would you like to understand, further develop, and apply the basic principles of mindful business practice?

In this retreat, we have the opportunity to spend a few days in a benevolent community, to share our experiences and challenges, and to inspire one another. This retreat offers a chance to build or renew connections, to replenish energy and joy, and to strengthen our commitment to mindful and compassionate ways of doing business—knowing that nourishing our own happiness also nourishes happiness in the world.

Our topics and questions

  • In what ways can Buddhist teachings and paths of practice inspire our engagement in the world?

  • Which mental attitudes and mind skills support us?

  • How can we apply the teachings of Impermanence, Non-Self, and Interbeing to our daily life and and work?

  • Are there ways to introduce more silence, concentration, and loving kindness into our days?

  • How do we cultivate impulse restraint, single-tasking, and genuine pauses?

  • How do we practice with difficult emotions and conflicts? How do we deal with pressure, loneliness, and overwhelm?

  • How do we nurture joy, playfulness, and creativity in our working lives?

  • What does true success mean to us?

  • What can we learn from the historical Buddha and his successors about wholesome leadership and community building?

  • How do ethical commitments such as the Five Mindfulness Trainings or the Mindful Business Commitment support us on our path?

Support the
Network for Mindful Business e.V.

We are a non-profit organization that relies on donations to pursue its long-term goals. Donations are, for us, "warm money," often called "Dana" in Buddhist terminology. Dana represents giving freely and without ulterior motives to support beneficial causes. Dana is loving-kindness and goodwill, enabling the Buddha's wisdom teachings to flow powerfully onward.
